One of the collections held among the Catholic missionary archives gathered in St. Agatha is that of the Redemptorists, who went from the Netherlands to Suriname in the nineteenth century. They were in charge of the Catholic leprosaria of Batavia (early nineteenth century) and Majella (late nineteenth century) and also collaborated with the State leprosarium, Groot-Chatillon. Part of the archive consists of diaries, letters and brochures of the mission in Suriname. Permission to peruse the archive is needed from the Redemptorists themselves, who are in Wittem: http://www.stclemens.org/NLDContact.
