Martin Vegas, MD (Venezuela 1897- ) was full professor of clinical dermatology at the Central University of Venezuela and Councillor of the International Leprosy Association. He was responsible for the organization of leprosy hospitals in Venezuela and researched therapies for leprosy at the time when chaulmoogra oil was being used to treat the disease. He also made several studies on the clinical and epidemiological aspects of leprosy in various Asian countries.
