The Real Academia Nacional de Medicina, founded in 1861, is one of Spain’s most important medical institutions. Its medical library includes a large collection of books, leaflets, journals, documents and manuscripts. It represented the main arena for discussion of health and medicine in Spain during the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth.
